Care for ADO Curtains and Drapes

ADO focuses on easy care and functionality

ADO has always stood for effortless care and easy handling. Therefore, all our fabrics are washable at least 30 °C. For exact care instructions, please check the label of your fabric or simply go to our Product Overview.

In general, however, washing curtains, draperies and upholstery fabrics is neither witchcraft nor a feat of strength, as it was in the days of our grandparents.

On our main page on Fabric Care you will find general advice on washing curtains, drapes and upholstery fabrics, as well as on the excellent ADO product properties.

Your Instructions: Curtain Care Is So Easy

Curtains and drapes from ADO are characterized by being particularly easy to care for. They are all washable at 30 °C and you can find detailed care instructions on the sewn-in care label, in the product overview or directly from your ADO retailer.

Curtain detergents contain so-called foam inhibitors, which prevent the suds from foaming too much. This can make washing much easier. For white curtains, there are washing powders with optical brighteners and bleaching agents. Caution: These are not suitable for colored or printed fabrics!

To avoid wrinkles and folds, you should take off the curtains just before washing. Remove all accessories from plugs and needles to gliders or rollers and weighting rods. Shake out the coarse dust. For sewn-in plastic pieces, tie off the top edge of the curtains to prevent damage. A wash bag or pillowcase will do just as well.

On curtain laundry day, the washing machine is reserved exclusively for your ADO curtains and drapes - don't mix them with other fabrics. Fill the drum only one-third full and choose a gentle wash program where the fabrics are completely submerged in water. Both spinning and tumble drying are a no-no to preserve the fine fabrics and avoid wrinkles or even shrinkage.

Especially delicate fabrics need extra love – in the bathtub! Cover the entire fabric with lukewarm water, soak it for 10 to 20 minutes and then gently rinse it in the water. Gently squeeze out the water without rubbing or wringing. Then rinse the fabric thoroughly with clean water.

Treating curtains with fabric softener prevents electrostatic charging and thus the attraction for house dust. A finish also enhances white fabrics with a generous portion of pigments that repel dirt and dust at the same time.

Hang your ADO curtains and drapes when damp and arrange the drape the way you want it. You can carefully remove light wrinkles with an iron on the damp curtain. Tip: Test on an inconspicuous spot beforehand!

Done!

Now you can fully enjoy the colorfulness and fine textures of your ADO curtains and drapes again.
